Dickerson – Maryland Senate Campaign

After a former University of North Alabama student filed suit against that institution, claiming the university did not address her claims of rape by visiting communications professor David B. Dickerson, a federal court set a September 22nd deadline for UNA to respond. That response, along with other official documentation, has offered up some dramatic new information.

  • It was UNA president Ken Kitts who personally decided not to fire Dickerson, but to pay off his contract and ban him from campus.

  • Despite Dickerson being forbidden to come in contact with any students, he gave a Christmas party at a downtown Florence bar which several students attended.

  • Dickerson also attempted to contact the alleged victim via her LinkedIn page.

  • Despite violations of UNA-Dickerson settlement, the university continued to pay Dickerson’s salary until the end of his contract.

The case is being heard by Judge C. Lynwood Smith Jr. in the Northern District of Alabama Federal Court.
