Exclusive Pre-screening of Ukrainian documentary “Myth” and Q&A with the film directors will take place in Huntsville on Dec 13 and in Birmingham on Dec 14.
“MYTH” film covers a remarkable and tragic and now legendary story of Wassyl Slipak — a talented, world-renowned opera singer, who gave up his successful career in France, and then his life fighting for Ukraine’s sovereigntyas a volunteer soldier in the war that started in 2014 after Russia invaded Ukraine. “MYTH” is primarily a deep and personal story, but it reflects the changes taking place in Ukraine.
The film is scheduled for official release in the end of January 2018, but prior to that, a number of pre-release screenings are planned in US, including two in Alabama.
“MYTH” — a new documentary by famous Ukrainian filmmakers, Leonid Kanter and Ivan Yasniy. Previous their film “The Ukrainians” was shown in 23 countries around the world, including the US. “Myth” directors will come to Alabama specially for presenting the documentary.
The events are free, however, donations to the filmmakers would be greatly appreciated. The raised funds will be used for promotion of the film about Wassyl Slipak all over the world.
Screening in Huntsville is supported by Global Ties Alabama Global Perspectives Institute and will take place at 6 pm on December 13, 2017
at Wilson Theatre, Wilson Hall, UAH Campus, 301 Sparkman Drive, Huntsville Al.
Screening in Birmingham is supported by Birmingham Sister Cities Commission and will take place at 6 pm on December 14, 2017 at Alumni Theater of UAB Hill Student Center, 1400 University Blvd, Birmingham Al.
