Of the five candidates seeking to become the next superintendent of Decatur City Schools, two are from the Shoals. Former Lauderdale superintendent Jennifer Gray and current Sheffield superintendent Keith Lankford are on Decatur’s short list for new city schools leader. The five candidates were selected from a list of 43 original applicants.

Gray lost her elected position in Lauderdale County, and Lankford has been leader of Sheffield schools for two years. Only one finalist is an out of state resident. The new superintendent is expected to be announced by July 7th at the latest.
