There is now a $1,000.00 reward in the Tommy Blevins murder. Blevins was found dead in the living room of his small camper earlier this month. If you have any information concerning the crime, call (256)386-8685 or text detailed message to 274637 (CRIMES).

From March 10th: County Road 94 in Lauderdale is located almost equidistant between Zip City and Greenhill. On Thursday evening, the body of Tommy Jackson Blevins Sr. was found in his home at 2260 County Road 94. The 62 year old Blevins had reportedly lived in Lauderdale County at least 20 years.  A preliminary autopsy determined his death was the result of foul play.

The Lauderdale County Sheriff’s Office has not publicly speculated on a motive in the murder, but certainly no one does anything without a motive. A possible motive in the crime could be Blevins’ status as a registered sex offender. The man known as “Peanut” due to his small stature had been convicted of the 1993 rape of a 7 year old boy in Lauderdale County.

Other motives could of course be financial, property disputes, or similar everyday problems that can escalate. It’s expected that the sheriff’s department will issue a more detailed statement on Monday.
