Police Investigating Early Morning Shooting:

(Florence, AL)- Shortly before 3am this morning Florence police officers responded to ECM hospital to a reported shooting victim who was being treated at their facility. Officers determined that the victim had been shot multiple times prior to being transported by a private vehicle to the hospital. An investigation into the shooting led officers to the intersection of Cherokee Street and Westmorland Street where evidence was collected and a scene was processed. At this point in the investigation, our detectives are actively searching for anyone who may have seen anything in that area between the hours of 2 am and 3 am.

The victim, whose name is not being released at this time, is a 33 year old black male from the Florence area. He is currently undergoing surgery and is listed in critical condition. Detectives are working diligently to locate persons of interest and are asking for the community’s assistance in identifying the person or persons responsible for this crime.
