Official Report on Today’s Accident in Florence

A report in a large Florence news outlet indicated one car involved in today’s accident in North Florence ultimately landed in Cox Creek. Official reports (see below) indicate it was a storm culvert:

This afternoon Florence Police & Fire, Shoals Ambulance, and Air Evac responded to a traffic accident with injuries on North Wood Ave and Cox Creek Parkway. Two vehicles collided causing one of them to go off of a 25-foot-high storm culvert. The vehicle landed upside down in about two feet of water. Motorist that witness the accident aided the driver my turning the car right side up. Once the male driver was freed from the car he was transported to Huntsville hospital by Air Evac. The female driving the second vehicle was transported to ECM by Shoals Ambulance.

The accident is still under investigation and the status of both drivers is unknown at this time. There were no other passengers in the vehicles involved.
