Press Release

Just before 4:00 a.m. on Sunday, May 14th, 2017 the Lawrenceburg Fire Department was dispatched to 203 Fourth Street for a reported structure fire. In less than three minutes, the first arriving crews found a 47,000 sq. ft. commercial building to be 80% engulfed in fire, with flames extending through the roof of the structure.

Fire crews worked for several hours to bring the fire under control. An investigation into the cause of the fire was launched by the Lawrenceburg Fire Investigation Division with assistance from the TN State Fire Marshal’s Office Fire Investigation Section. The result of the investigation has determined that the fire was intentionally started.

Investigators are certain that there are persons that hold information about the circumstances surrounding the events that led to the fire being started. It is the fear of fire officials that if the persons responsible for this fire being started are not held accountable, more fires may be started by these individuals. While no injuries resulted from the fire that was started at the Old Lindsay Building, next time we might not be as lucky.

If you have any information about this fire, or were in the area of the Old Lindsey Manufacturing Building on the evening of Saturday, May 13th and 4:00 a.m. on Sunday, May 14th and saw anyone in the area, please contact the Lawrenceburg Fire Department Fire Investigation Division at 931-762-9046 or 931-231-9676.
