The fallen Lawrenceburg firefighter has been identified as 38 year old husband and father Jason Wade Dickey.

A fire in the 500 block of Hood Lakes Road in Lawrenceburg has claimed the life of at least one firefighter; two others were injured in the building’s collapse. The block contains eight homes and sits just off Highway 43 south of the Highway 64 intersection.

The extent of the firefighters’ injuries has not been released. The fire may have started around four o’clock and was reported shortly before four-thirty Monday afternoon. Unconfirmed reports say the fire quickly became fully involved, with the roof of the two-story structure collapsing on several firefighters, killing one and seriously injuring two more.

Agencies from around Lawrence County, as well as Giles and Maury responded to the large fire before bringing it under control. The call for emergency ambulances was received around eight o’clock. The county has announced that a news conference Tuesday morning at ten will give further details on those injured in the collapse.
