AutoGuide.com’s team of automotive experts is excited to announce that the dramatic new Kia Stinger has been awarded as the outlet’s 2018 Car of the Year.
“The Kia Stinger is easily the most impressive car that came out this year,” said Jodi Lai, Editor-in-Chief of AutoGuide.com. “Its dramatic good looks, genuinely engaging driving dynamics, and sheer cool factor make it refreshing and set it apart from all the other vehicles that came out this year. We can confidently say that Kia deserves this award.”
The Kia Stinger faced some stiff competition. The Korean brand’s all-new grand touring car was up against the shortlisted Honda Accord, Alfa Romeo Giulia, Toyota Camry, and Subaru Impreza.
Kia is proud that the Stinger is making waves.
“Unlike any Kia that has come before it, the Stinger really is a dream car for us and after years of commitment and hard work from a passionate group of designers, engineers and executives around the world, that dream is now a reality,” said Orth Hedrick, vice president, product planning, Kia Motors America. “From its GT Concept-car origins to its tuning and refining on the legendary Nürburgring circuit, no detail was too small to be obsessed over, and the result is simply stunning.”
In the end, AutoGuide.com’s team of editors were surprised by how fun the Kia Stinger was to drive and liked that the car lived up to the hype, exceeding all their expectations. They noted the luxurious interior, smart engineering, brilliant chassis, handsome design, and the fact it is available with either a 2.0-liter turbo four-cylinder or a twin-turbo V6 and with rear or all-wheel drive, as the reasons it performed so well during AutoGuide.com’s evaluations.
“Congratulations to Kia,” Lai said. “It’s obvious that Kia put everything they have into this impressive car and didn’t cut any corners. This car is was a delightful surprise. It’s great too look at and even better to drive.”
