Rhonda Gail Alred Medina was featured in an article we published yesterday; she was one of two Florence women who stole a vehicle in Vina, ultimately crashing it just across the state line in Mississippi. In a social media profile, Medina refers to herself as a nurse. Is she?
PNS checked, and Medina is indeed a practical nurse; however, her state license has lapsed. The Alabama Board of Nursing indicates that Medina was licensed as a trade nurse from the summer of 2004 until the end of 2011 when she allowed her license to lapse for unknown reasons. Most nurses who fail to renew their licenses do so because they know it is about to be stripped from them.
Charges against Medina include:
THEFT OF PROPERTY 1ST DEGREE;
ATTEMPTING TO ELUDE;
UNLAWFUL BREAKING AND ENTERING A VEHICLE;
FRAUDULENT USE OF A CREDIT/DEBIT CARD
Authorities say Medina and her companion Santana Bedwell were both treated at a local hospital before being officially booked. They remain in the Franklin County Detention Center as of Thursday morning.
