Effective Sept. 5, the Commission issued an Order placing on probation the license to practice medicine in Alabama of James E. Mallette, III, DO, lic. no. DO.749, Florence AL, and restricting him from prescribing any Schedule II controlled substances.
August 23rd Update: A hearing on James Elmore Mallette D.O.’s license, twice postponed, took place this morning. A spokeswoman for the Alabama Board of Medical Examiners indicated that the board would announce a decision on Mallette’s status within ten days.
From April: According to the Alabama Board of Medical Examiners, the license of Florence osteopath James Elmore Mallette III was suspended on January 25, 2017. The board’s order states that it has evidence in its possession that Mallette “may constitute an immediate danger to his patients or the public.” Mallette will face a hearing in Montgomery on April 26th at 9:30 a.m. At that time, his suspension may be lifted or other arrangements may be made as to his Doctor of Osteopathy license. “Mo” Mallette is a well-known allergist who practices in the Florence medical district.
