Lauderdale County Mug Shot
Update: Lauderdale Circuit Court Judge Gil Self has denied Marty Holt youthful offender status. Holt then pleaded not guilty to all charges by reason of mental defect; his trial is scheduled for October.
From April 13th: A 20 year old Florence man has been arrested after allegedly posing as a female on two Facebook accounts in order to lure teenage boys into a relationship. Marty Lee Holt is a Wilson High grad who is currently studying marketing at the University of North Alabama; he’s also what law enforcement personnel call a sexual predator who was engaging in the Internet practice of “catfishing.”
Holt, who presents as an openly gay man via social media, knew his two victims. Using nude photos he obtained from local women, he obscured the faces in the photographs and sent them to the young men in an attempt to establish a sexual relationship with them. Once the two teens received nude images of women they believed desired a relationship with them, they reciprocated with similar images of themselves. The Certified Nursing Assistant, who lists Mitchell-Hollingsworth as his employer, then attempted to extort sexual favors from his victims in exchange for not publishing the photos online.
A March grand jury indicted the former track star on charges of possession of obscene material of a person younger than 17, sexual misconduct, extortion and two counts of distributing pornography to minors (both victims are 15 or younger). Holt remained in the Lauderdale County Detention Center this afternoon in lieu of 39K bond.
