The Bomar Inn on Highway 31 in Athens is not the icon of hospitality it once was, even if it may still bring out the public for its large adjacent restaurant and home cooking. Unfortunately, the name often appears in conjunction with fleeing felons or others in arrest reports, and reviews online are not glowing.
This morning an explosion rocked one of the rooms, blowing out the door and windows. No one was in the room at the time, and there were no injuries reported. Both Athens fire and police were on the scene and expect to make a statement later.
Explosions aren’t exactly an every day event, unless one is in the business of making fireworks or methamphetamine. It’s a pretty good guess which came into play at the Bomar earlier today.
