Ralph Evans LeMay, known as Evan, has an extremely checkered past. Drug crimes dot LeMay’s RAP sheet, and the 40 year old Sheffield man made headlines several months ago when he tried to escape from Colbert County custody during a visit to the Helen Keller Emergency Room. Now LeMay is wanted for a very unusual crime – he took part in robbing Santa.

Specifically, LeMay is alleged to have participated in an armed robbery of four Santa’s Village employees in Huntsville. Santa’s Village is set up each year in downtown Huntsville to make money for the Early Works Museum. On December 22nd, the weather was bad, and Santa’s Village closed early. Four employees left the popular attraction around 9:30, one of them carrying a bank bag filled with the day’s proceeds. They were met by two armed men, one of whom assaulted an employee with pepper spray.

Huntsville police learned the identity of the two men whom Santa’s Village workers saw, plus two more who helped organize the armed robbery. Initial reports have not indicated what part LeMay took in the crime, but of the four, he is the only one not yet taken into custody.
