Dr. Joe Delap, Athens State University Provost and Vice President of Academic Affairs, was selected by The Association of Chief Academic Officers (ACAO) as one of 32 provosts and chief academic officers (CAOs) to participate in the ACAO Digital Fellows Program. The program, supported by a grant from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, is designed to provide provosts and CAOs with critical information, effective resources, and tested strategies to help CAOs and their faculty understand and adopt high quality digital courseware.
The ACAO Fellowship Program aims to explore digital technology usage methods that increase the retention and persistence to graduation among undergraduates, with a special focus on those who are first generation, low income, or minority students. In addition, the program will develop an abundant public archive of digital learning resources to give CAOs the tools to utilize digital curricular materials that will engage students and improve their learning.
During the year-long fellowship, recipients will convene four times for digital learning workshops. The Gates Foundation grant also includes support for individual campus projects focused on digital learning.
