From CCC:

The Calhoun Warhawk Student Ambassadors are gearing up for their 3rd Annual Winter Drive. Each year, Calhoun’s Ambassadors and the North Alabama Coalition for the Homeless (NACH) collect winter items for those in need during the winter months. The official start to the event was Monday, October 2nd and will continue through Friday, October 27th.

With freezing temperatures during the winter months in North Alabama, keeping warm is a challenge, especially for those that are homeless. Even during winter days, the wind and cold temperatures still don’t let up. The Warhawks are seeking help from the local community to assist in spreading the gift of warmth. While blankets are great items to donate, the NACH has a large shortage on other winter items such as gently used winter jackets, gloves, and scarves, in all sizes. All donated items will be compiled and delivered to the NACH office in Huntsville at the end of the month.

“Words cannot express how proud I feel as a sponsor to these students. This is their annual fall charity event, and they absolutely love it. It is so encouraging to see them decorate the boxes and go out into the community to request winter items”, commented Sherika Attipoe, Warhawk sponsor. “These students truly embody selfless service to those less fortunate in our community, and it is encouraging to see our younger generation to possess such a positive trait.”

Donations will be accepted at Calhoun’s Huntsville Campus, 102 Wynn Dr. NW, Huntsville, AL in the Student Center and on the Decatur Campus, 6250 Hwy. 31 North, Tanner, AL in the Student Center and Math, Science and Administration building lobby.

About the Calhoun Warhawk Student Ambassadors

Warhawks are the official hosts and hostesses that represent Calhoun at special events and receptions on campus. We work hard and have fun doing it. We take pride in our school and our community and serve both by assisting with such activities as campus tours, high school college programs, local organizations, and other club and groups on campus with enthusiasm – all while keeping our grades up. It’s a great way to meet other students, faculty and administrators, and become involved in student activities and your community.
