Calhoun Community College will host its 9th Annual Student Success Symposium on Tuesday, August 29. The symposium will be held in two sessions: 11:00 a.m. – 12 noon at the Kelley Gymnasium, Decatur Campus, and from 5:30 p.m. – 6:30 p.m. in the Student Center, Huntsville campus. The theme for this year’s symposium is “The Road to Success”. Both sessions are free and open to all students.
At the start of each fall semester, the student services department hosts this annual event with the primary goal of motivating students toward personal and academic excellence. “My team is working diligently to spread the word to all students about this outstanding event. We are encouraging all Calhoun students to attend one of the two sessions,” commented Dr. Pat Wilson, Dean of Students Services.
This year, students will hear from an exciting line-up of panel discussion speakers, which will feature, Mr. Mark Branon, Calhoun’s Huntsville campus Director and alumnus, Dr. Ricaurte Solis, Calhoun alumnus and Anaya Hines, current Calhoun student. “Not only will the students have an opportunity to hear about each speaker’s personal journey at Calhoun, but they will also learn what tools they used to achieve their current success,” said Wilson. The symposium will conclude with questions from the audience.
In addition to the symposium, Calhoun’s student clubs and organizations will have tables set up to provide additional information to students interested in membership. These organizations cover a broad range of interests including professional, international, religious, academic honorary, and special interest groups.
