An Athens man with a long history of arrests has been charged with Attempted Murder. Authorities say a bicyclist informed police that Ronnie Lee Pylant Jr. intentionally ran him down as he was cycling on Hine Street last Monday. The two had been involved in an altercation the week before. The victim was admitted to Huntsville Hospital where he’s expected to recover.

Pylant, 30, has previous arrests for Domestic Violence (his girlfriend didn’t know how to drive a manual transmission) and Drugs. He has served time in the state prison system for Burglary and Distribution of a Controlled Substance, having been released in 2016. Pylant is being held without bail and, if convicted, could be sentenced as a habitual offender to life in prison.
